Less than satisfactory product + Terrible Service.

I bought this washer back in September 2016 and have had multiple issues along the way. Similar to the issues that I see others complaining about. I do not frequently write reviews for products, but I would like to use this as an opportunity to warn others about the Maytag line and their poor quality of customer care. Also note, this washer is not bad from a efficiency/load size/cleaning standpoint (other than occasional stain), this issue lies more with the parts that are failing before what I expected to be a reasonable life span. Over the 3 year course, this washer has frequently left the "white stain" that others are referring to (especially visible on dark clothing). I thought it was an issue with the detergent, but now I see that many others have had the same issue. The reason I am here now is due to what I believe to be a control board failure. Just last week our machine stopped turning on. Power to the outlet is still normal, so I know it is not the outlet. After further investigation it was determined that the circuit board is spent after only 3 years of operation. The cost to repair this is quickly tallying up (service tech initial visit $95, new part $300, labor to repair $??) and is nearing $500. Why should I be inclined to repair this part at all if the maintenance is nearing half of the machine's capital cost? Just so I can replace it again for another $500 in 3 years? I see many others who have had the same issue with this product in an equal (or lesser) timeframe. In calling Maytag they were not helpful other than scheduling a service tech to come out and inspect the unit. I would expect Maytag to hold themselves to a higher standard after charging $899 for this product. I would hope they recall this machine or make it right for the customer. A new washing machine built in 2016 should last longer than 3 years. Unless this problem is resolved from a customer care standpoint I will never buy another Maytag product and will strongly warn against them to others.

30 months in, 2 service calls plus a new issue

Leaves residue on darker clothes, no matter the size of load or detergent type. Lid lock issue, repeatedly. Control board failure. Today we have a new issue! It turns on and stays frozen, unusable... I would gladly swap this out for a 1985 washing machine that actually works.

My clothes do not get clean unless I wash them 2-3

I bought this years ago and cannot afford another one . I have to wash my clothes 2-3 times to get them sort of clean. Some time the bedding setting works for clothes that are not very dirty. When we talked to the sales person she told us about the special soap you have to use and the special way to load the unit and do not put too big of a load. I get my clothes cleaner in the bathtub! Worst Washing Machine EVER

There is something terribly wrong with the sensors of this washing machine. If there is even one bulky item, such as a blanket, mixed in a load then it doesn't spin properly. It gets stuck in a rinse/spin cycle over and over again. It also leaves white spots on clothes and doesn't seem to really get anything very clean. I HATE THIS MACHINE! I will never buy a Maytag product again because of how bad this washer is. And of course the biggest issue we have started at just after a year when the warranty was over. UGH!!!

Transmission leaking oil after 3 years. Always had difficulty with large loads, losing balance in the spin cycle. Transmission part under warranty, but the service tech had to destroy the paddle to remove it, asit had seized on to the shaft.

I bought this 20 months ago. I'm disappointed that I've had three service calls. Two with the f5 code. The service tech said it was the water sensor. Less than a week later the same f5 code again and i can't do my laundry. I called Maytag and they told me to trip the fuse and that should reset it. Nope. I did not get the extended service plan. I feel penalized that i buy an expensive washing machine that breaks extremely fast. Now i have to pay for another service call with more parts. I spent $300 on the last repair in this machine. If we are all having the same problem shouldn't Maytag step in and offer to fix this lemon?

Dead after 23 months use

So I bought this washer from Home Depot Nov. 4th 2016. Everything seemed fine until this week when the machine wouldn't power up and the panel was dead. Had a tech. in to look at it and was told that I would need a new control unit. I called Maytag to get a tech out and it was going to take a week to get someone out. So I called the local appliance technician that is certified to work on other brands but apparently not Maytag (Whirlpool) I live in a town of about 800 people and couldn't be with out a washer for a week. I called Maytag to voice my displeasure and because I didn't wait a week for one of their techs they won't do anything for me. I asked them for an honest opinion that if I paid the $130 service call and waited a week for them to come out and if they came to the same conclusion would they be willing to help me out. They said they were unable to comment. So that tells me all I need to hear

The Absolute Worst

This washer should be recalled. I am beyond frustrated with this washer as it leaves white marks on ALL dark clothes, no matter the load size. Maytag told me to load it differently and to use different laundry detergent, those didn't help at all. The one service tech replaced a part to allow more water, said to always do extra rinse cycle, and use deep water cycle. None of that helps as white marks are still on clothes and each load take 1.5 hours. I have to wipe down all clothes with a wet cloth to get marks off. I read a few of these reviews when I went to purchase the washer and thought it must have been user error, but how wrong was I! Don't buy this washer!

less than 2years old and nothing but problems

I bought this matching washer/dryer set from Home Depot in August 2016 and didn't begin to use them until I moved into my home in November 2016, which equates to 20 months of usage. However, problems began from the very start. I do a lot of manual labor construction type work and need a quality washer to get dirt and grime out of my work clothes. NO problems with whites as they are washed with Clorox. My colored clothes "smelled" clean when they came out of the dryer but the real test came when i would sweat or get caught in the slightest amount of rain. The slightest drop of moisture would make my shirts smell like a wet dog. I have to wash all of my colors twice in a the sanitize mode, which is the hottest setting and then dry at maximum heat setting. Obviously this has worn out my colored clothes out prematurely. Colors should be washed in a cold wash to preserve the colors in garments. Forget about using powder products to wash because I often find globs of washing powder left over on my clothes after a complete wash. Sometimes I can tell my clothes aren't clean period as dirt remains. Now I have a new problem where I can start a load to wash and the lid clearly locks as it's audible, the light on panel indicates it's locked and the lid is actually locked but for some reason I come back to alarm sounds/signals emitting from the machine, a flashing F5 error code, a clicking noise at the lid lock with the wash cycle operation ceased with a load of wet clothes to wring out by hand. The fact that I'm stuck with this problematic after 20 months of being used makes me very angry because I did go online looking for reviews but none existed at the time but now I see more than I care to read. A one year warranty is unacceptable. I will try to get this machine repaired and sell the set and be done with Maytag.

Utterly the worst ever, do not buy Maytag

I bought this washer less than 2 years ago,. From the get-go it had issues with load balancing, covers would cause issues, sometimes it would even start moving around. Got that resolved with some vibration dampening feet, and it was working mostly fine for awhile. Washing was so-so at best, often we'd get white residue on clothes. Now less than 2 years in, it's throwing an F6 E2 error stopping midcycle, got it to reset once, but can't get it to startup again. Warranty on electronic parts is only 1 year so plain SOL. This is absurd, esspecially for a supposedly rated top in its class appliance, washers that we had in 1999 worked better and lasted longer. Needs a control board replaced after 2 years, Maytag employees must be on something while manufacturing these, complete and utter garbage, these should be recalled, I should get my money back, I should not ave to pay to repair, I paid enough to buy it in the first place. Last Maytag I'll be buying.

Worst Investment Ever - lasted 2 years

We bought this washer 2 years ago and certainly did not get our money's worth. The performance of the wash was mediocre at best. At the 2 year mark the washer started acting up, throwing errors in the middle of loads, not finishing washes, having to be manually moved to rinse/spin. We tried everything possible including calling two repair guys, one who said the $300 control board went out, and another who wouldn't even charge us a service fee and told us it wasn't even worth repairing. WORST washer ever.

I have had this washer a little over a year now and it is awful. All of my dark clothes come out with white patches of detergent on them. I have also had clothes come out with actual dirt still on them (not a stain) so I feel that there is no way any clothes get remotely clean. I have had the washer serviced twice, and the Maytag representatives I have talked to on the phone are less than helpful. I have tried different detergents with no better results. The best I have found is to use the deep water setting and an extra rinse, and while the clothes are better, they still have disgusting residue on them. After battling with this washer for a year, I am hoping to sell it and get something better. I will never buy a Maytag product again. DO NOT BUY THIS WASHER!!

This is a good washer

The capacity is amazing for a washing machine. The features are great but the control panel is not as user friendly as previous models. We have also had to call service twice on this machine in the first 6 months but it now runs like a champ.

Similar spin problems with bedding

We have similar problems with this model washer not being able to spin the excess water out of bed sheets and have to "rinse & spin" the cycle again which is a waste of water and time. We have even tried to add more cloths to the bedding load with the same results. Does Maytag have a solution? Also, sometimes we get a white discoloration on our sheets after the wash but we only use cold ozidized water on all our washes. What's going on?

Had service man out not happy had it only 1 month Machine making a banging sound, service man Said we needed a part to stop the banging Pc Richards doesn't carry the part he said We had to go to Home Depot to buy it Now we had to make another appointment to have it installed two service calls in a month Service man said he new exactly what was wrong with the machine he heard this sound many times before We should have been told about the machine making that sound I probably would have brought an upgraded washing machine what a disappointment My old Maytag was very quiet and had it many years I'll think twice about buying another Maytag.

Poor quality washing

We have on this washer for a year and a half. Since day one, all of our dark clothes come out with white lint or powder on them. We thought it was from powder detergent, but this happens even if we use blue liquid detergent. Sometimes parts of my clothes look like they never got wet. Since the lid locks on the washer, there is no way to tell just how much water filled in the tub. This was a very poor purchase for us and I'm surprised as our last Maytag washer (a Neptune) did wonderfully and lasted over 15 years.

Hate this washer

The wrinkle control feature must mean it makes wrinkles. No matter what I wash the clothes end up in a tight ball when done. I shake them out before putting in the dryer helps a little, hard to say if the wrinkle on the dryer works clothes are so wrinkled from washer. I did not buy a new washer and dryer to add ironing to my housework. Everytime i use these i get very frustrated, I hate them and want my 15 year set back.

We are a family of four with children who play sports so our washer gets a workout. I like the deep water and steam options. The two most disappointing things about this washer are the lid that locks (you can't start the washer and add clothes as it fills with water) and there is no option for spin only. On occasion when washing bedding, it does not efficiently spin the water out of the large items and being able to have an extra spin would be great. The only option is to rinse and spin again which takes another 40 minutes.

No gentle spin on washer, or it's broken.

The washer gentle cycle does not have a gentle spin I assume, because clothes come out wrinkled and tangled. Two repairmen have tested it and find nothing.

I bought this washer in May 2017. It's my first HE washer so one of my first loads containing blankets became unbalanced. I have since learned that placement of the laundry evenly in the washer is key. I like the high capacity of this washer. It is quiet and has saved me $$ on my water bill.

Main Board Broke

I bought this machine about 8 months ago and the main board no longer works. I've had to call service twice on this machine since I bought it. Before this I had a Kenmore Old Fashion machine that lasted me 16 yrs. I hate these new technology machines. They don't make them like they use to. Extra large capacity inside but not bulky looking and does not take up much space. Quiet and water efficient with option for deep water wash. Also steam cycle and self cleaning cycle. Love the agitatorless design. It is gentle on clothes and cleans well large and small loads well. Spin cycle removes more water than my last machine making for shorter time in dryer.

I find it simple to use and it does a great job cleaning clothes. I was concerned that it didn't have a center agitator, but that turned out to be a non issue. I actually appreciate that there isn't an agitator post in the way, makes it very easy to add and remove clothes.

Delivered exactly 1 week ago, and we have not yet tried all options or features. No problems noted of washing maybe 10 loads of clothing and sheets.It was installed out of the box without the need of any leveling of the feet - arrived ready for use. No drips or leaks. On the second load, a bottle of detergent accidently left on the lid during use did walk off the washer and hit the floor. A sign above our washer - "Life is like laundry - LOADS OF FUN". Well done so far, Maytag. No regrets.
