Compressor failed after 4 years

Died early 3/13/2023

Major meltdown due to failure of compressor on a 4 year old refrigerator. Previous fridge lasted over 15 years. Luckily we had an extended service plan from Home Depot because LG warranty only covers parts. However getting service scheduled was a lengthy over three weeks and exasperating process with the LG service provider. I ended up ordering a part myself to save time because the service provider picked the wrong one and it was not clear when that would be corrected. Other features of the refrigerator are OK other than the flap gaskets at the bottom edges of the french doors have split and dont really seal any more - a bad design for something that flexes every time one opens the door. Bought this refrigerator because of a Consumer Reports recommendation LG supposedly has a good repair record. Not sure I will trust that or LG in the future.

Great space adjustable shelves options

Love the French door feature. It makes storing and getting things out easier. I can see everything clearly and dont have to move a ton of stuff around to get to something. The freezer has a good amount of space and I like the additional drawer up top for quick access. The self diagnosis feature is cool because you can quickly figure out whats wrong with your phone.

I called the store where we bought it and they said they dont service them so I called LG and they said its all covered under warranty but there isnt anyone in your area and I would have to find someone near me. Previous LG just quit due to problems with ones made at that time that resulted in Class Action Suitwhich I was not aware of but we loved that unit. Was not ready to purchase a new fridge due to being 75 retired on fixed income I was not happy. But love LG and after shopping around wanting more bang for my buck I saw LG again was my go too product. I know they have great products and did purchase new one. Drawers seem to hit and must be pushed in maybe they in time will wear wish shelves on doors were more adjustable and the unit doors must be pushed closed they do not close on own. These we can live with as long as we get longevity out of unit. Thank you LG for caring and making improvements

Food loss reimbursement

The compressor went out on our new LG Purchaded new 2019 refrigerator/freezer..we lost ALL of the items inside condiments milk eggs butter cheeses not to mention a turkey ham ice cream just before Thanksgiving. I bought the LG refrigerator a little less than five years ago. A few months ago the compressor failed. I was lucky to get it repaired while it was still under warranty. Apparently the new LG refrigerators at that time did not have very good compressors. It is unfortunate to have a major appliance that would fail in that short a period of time.

My freezer would not freeze any food. Everything defrosted and I had to use coolers and dry ice for 5 days. Could find no one who would repair LG Called LG thinking it was under warranty but they said warranty did not cover low temperature. So they refused to help. Dont believe you have 5 years on compressor as the warranty says. Not true. This was the second time I had a problem. Did find repairman the first time. Never will I own an LG product again.

Worked well at first

Pretty quickly the shelves in the fridge door broke. Small plastic pieces broke off so the front of the bucket shelf isnt fully connected. Only 4 years into owning this fridge it completely died. Woke up to everything in my freezer melted on my floor and the food in the fridge spoiled. Called LG for service since it was still under warranty and was told to wait 3-5 business days just for a CALL BACK By the time my service technician actually came to fix it it was 8 days of it being broken. Feeding a family of 5 with 3 small children was no easy task with no fridge.

Ive had my refrigerator for about 5 years now. Unfortunately though Ive had to have a new compressor twice already. Sure seems to me that a compressor should last longer than 3 years which was how long it lasted. Otherwise its a good appliance. Wish it was easier to keep the outside free of smudges though.

We picked the LG fridge because we liked the style interior and exterior. Sadly after less than three years we had to replace the compressor. The one redeeming aspect for LG was that the repair was completely covered under our warranty and repair was done fairly quickly by a courteous LG repair person.

The refrigerator worked flawlessly for 4 years and to be honest I was happy with it.. LG however has a problem with their compressors that they apparently still havent solved. They now have a 10 year warranty on the compressor because of a Class Action Lawsuit. That Warranty is useless if you cant find anyone who will actually come to the house to fix it.It must be LG approved repair center Ive been waiting for 2 weeks and no one has been able to show up. The malfunction has already cost me a small fortune in spoiled food and bags of ice. Given my previous experience with their contracted repair centerfor a Microwave repair they will not have the parts neccessary to fix it. If Im lucky it will take less than 2 months to get the parts and then another month to get someone to come to the house to hopefully complete the repair . Im not real happy with LG and I will be avoiding their products in the future. If you do decide to buy an LG product be prepared to replace it sooner than later. They do not provide reasonable repair services and still havent Ive been married for over 50 years and this is the worst experience Ive ever had with a refrigerator. Theyre simple machines and require very little care and maintenance. They almost last forever. LG is the exception.

At 6 1/2 yrs old the compressor and the condenser died The warranty is a really bad joke You guys need to step up your manufacturing and make a more reliable product. The design is not user friendly when you clean it but that is not the complaint faulty equipment is the problem

Broke in five years

Broke in four years 7/8/2022

This refrigerator had a four and half year life. Then the compressor broke and LG customer service is so awful that after two months of phones calls and trying to get a service tech out to fix it and to honor their five year warranty- we finally gave up and are replacing the whole unit. Such a bummer. Do yourself a favor and dont purchase this unit.

Lg not that Good

We have had more problems with it than any before. When we got it we had electric board problems. We had ice marker fail. We had the ice marker leak 3 different time. We had the compressor go out. It is a good thing we had extended warranty.

Ive read mixed reviews about LG from repairman.

Old LG compressor stopped working after only 6 yrs. Many repair places will not work on LG refrigerators. Purchased new refrigerator LG . Looks good. Only issue is that the shelving are not very adjustable. Need to store large milk . juice etc on door not on shelves
