Overall liked the refrigerator. Ice maker went out after two years and the compressor and several other parts were replaced at year 8-9. LG replaced most the parts for a flat fee which was awesome.

I purchased this refrigerator for the features price and to match all the other LG kitchen appliances that we bought. The refrigerator has lasted 7 1/2 years. It has been a good fridge for that time but the compressor went out. I have heard this is common with the LG refrigerators. I feel for the amount of money we paid for this fridge it should have lasted longer than it did.

I bought this refrigerator 8 years ago and it has served my family well. I especially like the large freezer at the bottom of the refrigerator. The layout of the refrigerator is adjustable so most things can fit either on the door or on one of the shelves. It is extremely quiet and I have not had any problems with it until recently when the compressor went bad. I should have called a LG repair company but unfortunately I called a company that did not repair it. I then asked my neighbors who they used for repairs and called a company familiar with LG products. The repairman walked into my kitchen and immediately said he could tell it was the compressor from the sound it was making. I called LG and they made an appointment to replace the compressor within a few days. The repairman was very efficient and replaced the compressor within a few hours. The only complaint I have is the labor for replacing the compressor was not covered. LG supplied the compressor at no charge but I had to pay the repairman $516 for labor.

This second time it is outside of warranty so itll cost around $600 to get it replaced through LGs warranty or itll be as much as a new fridge to go with a local company. Compressor failed at 6 years. Warranty would have covered part but not installation. Would have been replaced with the same model compressor. Decided to throw it away. Also threw away the range when it was three years old because a burner was coming on by itself. Will not be buying any more LG appliances.

NICE BUT EXPECT PROBLEMS Buy Extended Warranty

LG asked me to write an honest review of my new refrigerator. It isnt new. Its 6 years old and I purchased a 5 year extended warranty for it. I like it fine when its working well. Convenient drawers and well designed flexible interior spaces. Thats all good. When it was about two years old the fan was making really loud noise intermittently. At that time it was hard to get to a helpful customer service person by phone. Eventually I did and the tech came out and he fixed something or replaced the fan I dont remember. But it worked well after that.. He said the fan was working harder because of frost buildup even though its supposed to be frost-free. He suggested I defrost it periodically and that is really difficult because there is no turn off button inside the unit.. I would have to move it out and unplug the electric plug. I am a small woman and that is almost impossible for me to do. I left my home for 2 1/2 months in May. I had the freezer full but no perishables in the refrigerator otherwise. I came home to a broken refrigerator spoiled food stinky mess and the freezer drawer was cracked open which let the bad smell throughout the house. My extended warranty was up a year previously. The refrigerator was still on and the door said the temperatures were 42 and -3 but the temperature was more like 95 inside the unit. The drawer that was open and corroded in place so it was very difficult to even ope try to clean everything out but eventually I did. It was much easier this time to reach a customer service person and they were able to have a technician come out the next day. He replaced the compressor so it would work but he had difficulty with the drawer and it needed a new parts ordered and replaced. He ordered the parts but didnt have an appointment available to return for another week. He asked if I wanted the bottom drawer left off which I did because I could then get in and clean it better. He came back as scheduled the next week and everything is in good order. The deal LG offered me was $479 plus tax for the service call all parts and labor. Theres a one year warranty on it. Not inexpensive but less expensive than trying to buy a new refrigerator . It was also repaired by an LG technician who knew the product and was able to get factory replacement parts. I like my refrigerator but I was sharing my experience with people in my morning water exercise class. Two other people said they were needing service on their LG refrigerators. One has a two year-old refrigerator that needed a new compressor. They had an extended warranty but did not get a certified LG repair. I dont know that LG is any worse than any other brand? But two or six years is too soon for something to fail in my opinion. I will also recommend thst anybody buy extended warranties because I dont trust any of the brands now. Actually I think I will buy Costco next time???. They probably will accept returns and give a refund when it breaks?

Used for almost 5 years. Has lots of features. I like the customizable shelves deep door shelves ice maker/water dispenser through the door yet still easy to get at the bulk ice container the flexible use middle drawer can be refrig or freezer and the temp reporting on the door. Dont like the Wi-Fi connectivity just another thing to break so we dont connect it. A tray in the door broke after a couple of years. Found an after market tray on Amazon at a reasonable price and it is stronger and holding up better. This last June it started making lots of noise 4.5 years of use. Sounded like an aircraft taking off. After checking the trouble shooting section of the manual out calling the company fighting my way through their telephone tree reviewing everything with an actual person I confirmed that the fridge was still under warrantee for sealed parts not anything else. Since they werent sure what was wrong I was since the noise stopped when the door was opened it had to be the fans I was offered a $499 plus tax flat fee fix no matter what was wrong. Since it was that or find someone else to fix it at an unknown cost I accepted the deal. Receive call from Willy asking about the problems. Willy was just as sure about the cause as I was and ordered a fan assembly and made an appointment to fix. Long story short Willy fixed it in 2 trips about 2.5 hours of work and did a fine job. Now runs quieter than ever. I did have to pay up front with a charge card but it didnt process til the work was done. All in all it was a satisfactory solution to the problem. I doubt if I will ever get another LG again. Ive had maybe five refrigerators and shelves break gaskets fail ice makers freeze up but I never had the fans fail. Im sure the fix would have been much more costly without LGs flat fee fix offer.

This is the 3rd time weve had to call the appliance service to fix this fridge and its only 7 years old. The first time was because it stopped cooling they replaced the board. Then the middle drawer shorted out because the unit stopped cooling and the ice maker leaked into the middle circuit board. We are currently waiting for a service person because the entire fridge has stopped cooling. This will be the 2nd time weve lost all of our food. We had to find our own service person because LG support is nonexistent. I will NEVER purchase another appliance by this brand EVER.

Bought in September 2018. Unit broke for the first time in 2021 when the Linear Compressor failed. Replaced under warranty. Unit failed a second time in July 2024. Not under warranty. Ive read all of the complaints regarding these models and how the company is fully aware of their defects. Theyve settled lawsuits over this but have stopped short of a recall. Im certain this latest fix which I have had to pay out of pocket for will only last 3 years or less. I will not be purchasing another LG product nor from any of their rebadged brands.

I bought this in 2019 and took out a five year warranty from Home Depot. Home Depot starts their warranty the day you purchased the fridge. My warranty expired 05.29.24 and this fridge stopped cooling 06.05.24. No one would help me even though it was just a few days after the expiration. There was a recall for this fridge for cooling issues for the same model number that I purchased however my serial number was part of the settlement so I could not apply for that. I am very upset about this experiance and now I have a fridge in excellent condition in my garage that does not work that is worth almost 4K.

I like the fridge with the exception that we had to replace compressor when it was 2 yrs old and just had to have the whole fridge practically rebuilt last week. It took over two months to get parts. While having to wait on parts I had to rent a fridge from rent a center which cost me 400$ and had to pay 1000$ for repair. I will never purchase an LG again Absolutely a horrible product and horrible customer service. Wish I could have afforded to buy a new one but with having a husband with terminal brain cancer fixing was a cheaper option. I sure hope it holds up now.

This was a great refrigerator until the compressor died at about the seven year point. LG has an extended warranty which would have/should have covered this out to ten years but it was incredibly difficult to work with LG on this and impossible to couple them to Sears who sold us this and who did the diagnosis. Both LG and Sears Service were so difficult to work with that I gave up on repairing. We really liked this design which I dont think is in the LG line now and we appreciate the good reviews LG receives but this was an impossible repair even though LG clearly wanted to supply a compressor at no cost and we were willing to pay for installation. A perfectly good LG refrigerator but for the compressor is now in a landfill somewhere and I am still mad about the full day I spent on the phone with LG and Sears Service trying to negotiate a repair. Clearly I will never again deal with Sears and if LG didnt make such darned good refrigerators I wouldnt deal with LG again either.

Own the unit for 6 years. Was happy until it stopped cooling. Main part had to be replaced. I was not happy to $600.00 to replace part labor was not covered that is still under warranty. One of the doors that holds ice has been leaking. Worked great for 5 years and it is becoming a headache. For family of 6 greatest inconvenience.

This fridge was in the house when we bought it. In general we have enjoyed its features although we have had to have some mechanical repair and the whole back panel replaced when the filter broke. Recentlyfor no reason I woke up to find the door had warped overnight. I called repair who came out and said they dont know why...but it happens. I am told the whole door has to be replaced which I cant afford right now. Hoping it lasts until I can just replace the whole fridge.

I PURCHASED AN LG UNIT 7 YRS AGO. THE SEALED COMPRESSOR STARTED FAILING FROM 3 YRS ON. IT WAS REPLACE AND REFILLED TWICE. LG FAILED TO SUPPORT MY UNIT SO I WILL NEVER PURCHASE AN LG APPLIANCE AGAIN.

Near constant ice buildup inside the refrigerator and outside icemaker. Condenser required replacement after 7 years. Compressor died a few months later. The refrigerator is beautiful and I love the layout but given other online reviews I believe its programmed to fail. The upside is the compressor is covered under a 10 year warranty. The downside is the experience of trying to replace it has been a nightmare. Were at the end of week 3 without a refrigerator.

We had problems with temperature control and had to call service on several occasions. When the 5 year extended service expired we were not contacted to renew it and we recently had problems with it again. The repair estimate was almost equal to new refrigerator so we decided to buy new one.

Repairs did not completely fix our problem and now even though we were told the fee guaranteed that our refrigerator would be repaired LG is. Ow telling us it may cause more to fix the problem if the technician determines it is unrelated . My issue is how does a normal person challenge what the technician claims to be the underlying issue?

By far the worst refrigerator we have ever owned. Ice maker leaks water so I cant use it. The middle drawer is burnt out and you cant switch the temperature settings . My water dispenser and door lost all power and isnt functioning. I feel like LG has basically stolen my money and I would never recommend them to anyone. Highly disappointed after being a long time LG fan.

It is the worst refrigerator I have ever owned it is 7 years old and 3 years ago we started having problems. We have had the service team out 3 times which includes several malfunctioning parts being replaced. We just had them out last week and now our fridge stopped working agian and had to throw out all of our groceries and try to get someone out here agian. It has been a VERY STRESSFUL AND FRUSTRATING process and would not recommend this brand moving forward.

Compressor failed at 5 years 1 month. Internal lines corroded. Not realistic to repair without warranty which expired by 1 month.
