piece of junk. i have the temperature set on 33 degrees and the coldest it will get is about 45. the ice maker freezes up every other month and i have to take it apart and blow it with a hair drier. avoid samsung refrigerators!!

this refrigerator has been a problem since day 1 (ok, maybe day 30). didn't make ice. we lived with it until i had enough. had service here 4 times in a year to fix. 6 month later, ice isn't working, back of the refrigerator is icing up and not cooling the refrigerator. samsung says "no known issue" but read the comments here . almost every single person has had the same issue. they even list the motor running loud and stopping on their website as a known issue. how much money should we continue to pay. 5 years old and this is trash. buyer beware!

i so wanted a samsung french door refrigerator for a long tim and finally was able to afford one. ive had my fridge now almost 4yrs now and its just been issues with the ice maker after the first year. ive been very dissatisfied and let down by the brand. my sistee bought herself a new samsung fridge and had to alreasy replace a sensor sue to issues with the ice maker. its been a while, maybe a year since ive not been able to use the ice maker. just wanted to warn others of this common issue in samsung fridges.

Major design issues! Buyer Beware!

this refrigerator started having issues around the third year we had it. there was ice build up in the back panel of the refrigerator, which leads to malfunction of the fan and eventually the refrigerator becomes too warm and humid. our food started growing mold on it. we had the entire back panel replaced, and the ice build up issue returned in a year. now we find ourselves defrosting the refrigerator every 2-3 weeks. we have other friends that own this refrigerator as well. if it's not ice build up in the back panel, it is a malfunction of the ice maker (ice maker is frozen solid and cannot dispense ice). with all the time, effort and money spent on repairing this refrigerator, it is easier to buy a new one.

i have had this fridge since april 2019, less than 2 years old. i do not cook much, keep mostly essentials and snacks in it. 2 weeks ago i decided to buy more food and loaded the refrigerator, not too full, but enough. it has now started to purr. i will call for maintenance, i hate that a $1800+ refrigerator needs maintenance in less than 2 years. reason i gave a 3 star rating is up until now no trouble, and very quiet fridge. in last 2 weeks, the purring is getting louder.

our refrigerator model# rf23hcedtsr/aa 5 year extended warranty ran out last month. our refrigerator broke down again! today 2 days before christmas. this piece of junk was worked on 5 times for 5 years. never fixed properly and they were just putting band aids on until our warranty ran out. we purchased all new samsung pieces of crap appliances 5 years ago, all had to be worked on at some time. the exception of the dishwasher that doesn't dry your dishes! what a joke stay away from samsung appliances. i will not even consider giving these to anyone i know unless they want to use them for a boat anchor! stay away!!!

this is a nice refrigerator. it is built with plastic parts that can easily break. we have had ours for 6 years, and only 1 person uses it...not a large family. the handle on the freezer broke off the door. this fridge has not been abused. i have had ge units that last 30 years. never had a problem. we even took out a 5 year extended service agreement, because i was concerned about a samsung fridge. i guess i needed 6 years. i looked this problem up and there were dozens of similar complaints about freezer doors breaking. when i contacted samsung, i though i might be able to get some consideration. thad didn't happen. just the offer to schedula a full cost service visit. i'll get this fized, but not by a samsung technician. also, won't buy another samsung appliance.

bought the fridge brand new and after 2 years of use everything is breaking. the ice maker is freezing over and i cant pull it out because its frozen into place. because the ice maker is frozen over water is leaking into the freezer and causing condesation and ice crystals to form in the freezer. before this problem the power cool function stopped working and was actually heating the inside of the fridge while trying to use it. called a repair guy for the power cool function and he "fixed" it, it now takes about an hour for it to start actually cooling the fridge. do not buy a samsung fridge unless you want to keep paying a repair guy on speed dial to fix your new refridgerator.

this is the worst junk i have ever owned. ice maker is worthless. it doesn't defrost so every 2 weeks i have to manually defrost it with a hair blower and the "cubes" are never whole three days after i thoroughly defrost it. we replaced the usint ($300+ a year ago). we needed to replace $400 worth of parts a year ago and now it is making a fan noise/grinding sound again. it is a 4 year old piece of junk. i will never purhase another product from samsung.

i purchased my refrigerator from a big box electronics reseller on 06/27/2015 along with an extended warranty to replace my 20-year-old kitchen aid. within a few months the ice maker began freezing up every month or so and within a year, it was happening two to three times a month. in 2016 it was replaced but, the pattern continued. no one will service their refrigerators in my area because the repair could brick the whole unit. in july 2020, the refrigerator stopped working and i lost about $300 of food. i purchased another brand to replace my 4 y/o, $2500 + samsung. this issue is a known problem! there are fb groups dedicated to this topic. do your research and caveat emptor!

the refrigerator broke down after only 2 years and, when all is said an done, it will have taken well over a month to get it fixed. there is only 1 approved samsung repair co. in my area and they are hard to schedule an appointment with because they are busy. no one else was able to figure out what went wrong. it turns out, after a power outage, a computer board and the compressor failed. this is crazy for an expensive appliance only 2 years old.

this is by far the worst purchase we have had in appliances. just after the warranty the ice maker went and can't be fixed. new ice maker almost $400 not counting install. the condenser fan went after that because the then drain line freezes and the fan froze and had to be replaced. $300 w/install. now the board is going or the thermostat is gone. temp lights flash saying it is too hot in frig. i have a thermometer in the frig and it reads 25 degrees, but the temp is set at 39 degrees but the blinking light says it is too hot! repair person is on his way. anticipating another $200-$300 in repair bill. oh, called samsung about the ice maker and the fan and they said sorry out of warranty. frig cost about $2400 and broke down at exactly 3 weeks after warranty expired.

this is a well-designed product in many respects. appearance, use of space, and efficiency all get high marks. unfortunately, this model and several others i have read about have a known flaw that causes ice to build up around the condenser fan, resulting in a noise that eventually sounds like a lawn mower in your kitchen. after time the issue will cause the fan to stop turning and the unit to stop cooling altogether. if you do a quick google on the issue you will find no shortage of similar accounts. once the warranty expires, you are on your own. samsung has refused to address the issue in any way and is of no help other than to refer users to service options. i have had parts replaced on two occasions after the warranty expiration, spending around $700 in total. never again, samsung.

the ice maker does not work for more than a couple of weeks before freezing over. we've had to defrost this thing too often. it is easier to make ice the old fashioned way. currently the fridge will not cool lower than 50 degrees. we have had to throw out $$$ in groceries. on the positive side, the lights work, as does the freezer. we will not buy any more samsung appliances.

door ice dispenser/maker froze repeatedly starting @ 18 mos. hundred$ repair. tech says such calls are common. condensate drain freezes, water collects at bottom of fridge and freezes/leaks to floor.

This refrigerator is a complete piece of junk. I have only had it for 2 years and already need a new one. The ice maker stopped making ice and is completely frozen, despite defrosting it it still freezes up. Now it leaks water nonstop and doesn't make any ice. I've had it repaired a few times but it is something faulty with the design. I own all Samsung appliances (washer, dryer, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator) and all of my tv's are Samsung. I would never buy a Samsung appliance again! There are more complaints online then not about this product and i believe a class action lawsuit as well! Terrible!

I am very happy with the refrigerator but the icemaker is horrible. It never made very much ice. We would use ice and then have to wait a while until there was more. Now it freezes up constantly and the drawer gets stuck frozen shut. Don't recommend.

Failing Parts in five years

I bought my Samsung refrigerator less than 5 years ago for a condo that gets used about 5 months per year. Based on a couple issues with the ice maker and the unit not maintaining temperature I arranged a repair visit. The service technition recommended I need to replace the ice maker due to a cracked housing near the back of the unit which was causing ice build up and interfering with ice making... and it appears that at least one of the electronic control boards is failing (unit struggles to turn on and not maintaining temperature). Samsung tells me that the items described are not covered under warranty and the repair technitions's estimate is around $1800. Well, this less than 5 year old Samsung refrigerator will be going in the trash and I will be buying a new refrigerator and defintiely NOT a Samsung.

"Unrepairable" after 4 years!!!! Don't buy!!

I'm still in shock but I've just been told that my four year old, out of warranty refrigerator is not repairable. The icing of the condenser was so bad it cracked the lining to a point that it could not be repaired. I called Samsung and was told too bad and I called HSN, the big Samsung repair center and they said that it wasn't a defect so it's just too bad. PLEASE, with the problems with the icemaker and with a problem with the condensor that others have shared here, DON'T BUY A SAMSUNG REFRIGERATOR. A lot of brands have their problems, even expensive Subzeros, but this problem is not unusual. I'm not some nut who can never be satisfied but to be told one's $2550 refrigerator is useless after four years is just absurd. Lesson also learned, per Wirecutter, get an extended warranty as refrigerators seem to have a lot of problems.
